〜 Grade 3 Japanese Calligraphy Class 〜

Japanese Calligraphy with Kumiko Nakabayashi

ICJC supports all curriculum programs and activities at Yokohama International School starting in the Early Learning Center through High School with the Curriculum Enhancement Programs. As part of Grade 3’s unit on “How We Express Ourselves”, students learn Japanese calligraphy (書道) with Kumiko Nakabayashi. The ICJC calligraphy curriculum begins in Grade K with students learning simple kata (かた), then in Grade 1 begin writing simple kanji characters (5-10 characters per year), first learning their origin as pictographs from the Chinese model and then their final Japanese character.
