Japanese Temari One-Day Workshops
ICJC presents the 3rd Annual “Japanese Temari” Workshop. The art of Temari (てまり) or hand ball has a long history tracing back to simple toy balls made for children’s games and evolving into a decorative art form utilizing intricate fabric and embroidered designs.
ICJC’s special guest Temari teacher Yasuko Mori brings to you over 40 years of professional work in a special one-day workshop. Participants will learn to make their own Temari, including your own personal design, use of materials, stitching techniques, color matching and batting. In addition to your Temari workshop, a typical Japanese obento lunch (prepared by ICJC cooking instructor Makiko Mori) will be served making your Japanese experience complete. Japanese snacks and drinks will be offered throughout the day.
