The 21st Century Japanese Music Project II is sponsored by a generous grant from the Toshiba International Foundation. The 21st Century Japanese Music Project II is the second step of ICJC’s overall initiative to promote new music for Japanese traditional instruments and collaborate with local communities. The result of Project I held from 2014-2016 was a success with an international composer’s competition and an overseas tour by the YIS Japanese Music Ensemble. Project II focuses on a series of three special concerts/workshops in three different cities held in conjunction with both local international schools and Japanese universities. Concerts and workshops will be held in both Fukuoka in December and Sendai in January 2017 with a special concert in Tokyo at Tokyo Tower on January 15, 2017. All concerts/workshops feature Christopher Yohmei Blasdel, shakuhachi, Ayumi Shimonoto, voice, shamisen and koto and Hideaki Kuribayashi, 13-string and 17-string koto.

The Tokyo Tower Concert is sponsored by CSPC For more information on any of these concerts or for tickets for the Tokyo Tower concert, please contact us at infoicjc.jp or (045)263-8009.
